No exchange of candies between BSF and Pakistan Rangers this Independence day
Though there are no formal decision at government level to accept on not to accpet the gifts on independence Day, the BSF had taken the decided no to offer or acept candies due to general mood of countrymen.

India celebrates its independence day on August 15. The two countries border forces traditionally exchange candies at the Wagah border.
As part of building cordial relations with their counterparts, the Border Security Force (BSF) used to offer candies to Pak Rangers on August 14, observed by Pakistan as their independence day. The company has organized a drive to the Wagah border, where citizens of India and Pakistan will conversate with each other via Skype or Google Hangouts.
Following the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani Rangers, India has warned Pakistan of “effective and forceful” response to unprovoked firing and cross-border terrorism.
New Delhi:There will be no exchange of candies and gifts between Indian and Pakistani border forces during the Independence day functions of both countries. BSF IG, Anil Paliwal had announced earlier that the BSF will neither be offering nor accepting candies from its counterpart this year.
Recent terror attacks in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir had increased tension on the border.
“At all Frontiers Headquarters, Sector Headquarters, Training Institutions, Battalion Headquarters and all Border Outposts”, a senior BSF official said.

The souring of ties and customary courtesies betw-een the two countries was recently seen when Pakistan refused a similar Indian gesture during Eid festivities last month.
