According to TMZ, a motorist had pulled off the Pacific Coast Highway and stopped outside Dre’s home.

Dre, whose legal name is Andre Young, told police he simply asked the man, whose name has not been released by police, to leave.

Born in the rough Los Angeles County city of Compton, Dr. Dre rose to stardom with gangsta rap pioneers N.W.A. where he was in charge of the sound. He did, however, leave the scene after the rapper recorded cellphone video of him. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they cuffed The Chronic hitmaker, patted him down, and then let him go after no gun was found on his person or nearby. The self-proclaimed “first billionaire of hip hop” is known for being outspoken against police violence and racial profiling.

Dre asked the man to leave his property, but instead he moved his auto nearby.

Dre was briefly handcuffed while deputies investigated.

A police official said Dre was “very cooperative” throughout the situation at his multi-million dollar beachfront home.

The sheriff’s department said it gave Dr. Dre a citation in connection with the citizen’s arrest but did not take any further action.
