Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said half of the 26 derailed cars were cleared by Monday morning following the Sunday derailment in Roanoke, located north of Fort Worth.

Emergency crews have blocked off the southbound lane of USA 377 in the Roanoake/Flower Mound area, after approximately twenty train cars derailed and plummeted from a bridge. There were no injuries.

The Roanoke Fire Department said the cars carried coal and not any hazardous materials.

Southbound U.S. 377 is closed at FM 1171, and motorists are asked to use Interstate 35W to go south.

Northbound Highway 377 is open.

Twenty rail cars derailed in total.

“Early reports is that there is damage to the [railroad] bridge”, said DeGraff.

He said traffic in the area may be impacted once the larger equipment arrives to clean up the area.
