He added this was an acute injury that could have happened on one pitch, not stress that built up on Strasburg’s elbow.

The Washington Nationals received some uplifting news on Thursday.

“He was cleared. He wasn’t trying to be a hero”, Baker said.

“It’s actually different. He just had some posterior swelling in the elbow, that’s why we were working on it before”. They need him now more than ever. He has allowed two runs over 13 innings while winning his last two starts. Ramirez, who turns 35 on September 22, hit.240 with five homers and 41 RBIs in 128 games with San Diego, starting 109 games at shortstop, three in right field and one at designated hitter.

Receiving a no-decision for his efforts, Strasburg entered the contest in the midst of a three start losing streak.

The Nationals received hopeful news regarding Strasburg, who left his start in the third inning Wednesday night after feeling a pinch in the back of his elbow.

Manager Dusty Baker said it’s about the best news the team could have hoped for given the fear that Strasburg may have reinjured the ligament.

Strasburg had an MRI on the elbow Thursday, one day after leaving a start in the third inning.

The setback came in his first outing since August 17 due to soreness in the elbow. He finished the night allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three.

With Braves pitcher Mike Foltynewicz attempting to bunt after Dansby Swanson’s leadoff double, Strasburg’s 0-2 pitch sailed high.

Washington’s trainer came out and Strasburg departed, covering his mouth with his glove as he reached the dugout.

“We have to do the best for the situation of what we have, and then make a determination on who is to take his place now and possibly later, ” Baker said. “Usually if something’s wrong you don’t have command”. It’s OK, though, we’re going to do the heavy lifting for you each morning, and find the things you need to see from within the SB Nation baseball network, as well as from elsewhere. Wilson Ramos walked off with the bases loaded in the 11 inning to complete a sweep of the Braves.

Atlanta’s Jace Peterson and Washington’s Anthony Rendon traded RBI singles in the 10th. He struck out eight batters without a walk. A pitcher needs these muscles to grip and properly throw a ball.
