No Man’s Sky Bug Caused By Pre-Order Ship

If you’ve pre-ordered No Man’s Sky on PC, it’s probably for the best if you resist the temptation to use that shiny exclusive ship you get offered, as there’s now a bug being reported by console players that could leave you stranded in space.

While necessary blueprints are randomly distributed across the game’s millions of planets, many prerelease players report unsuccessful attempts to track down the Hyperdrive blueprint after encountering the Horizon Omega bug. However, the situation has become somewhat paradoxical, because it doesn’t begin due to the player having acquired hyperdrive at one point from the pre-order ship.

At this moment, it seems there’s no solution to fix this issue and probably, by the time an official patch comes and fixes it, everyone who preordered a No Man’s Sky copy will have gone well beyond the tutorial section. When first starting, there is a lengthy tutorial which leads players to find a blueprint for a hyperdrive – the device which allows warping between star systems – so that they can build it themselves.

Fortunately, it’s an easy enough bug to avoid. Until then, affected players advise against redeeming the Horizon Omega ship until after discovering a Hyperdrive blueprint. However, you can’t build Antimatter until after you’ve already fueled the Hyperdrive.

In order to fuel Warp Drive, you need Warp Cells which can be crafted using a number of component, most important of which is Antimatter. Antimatter will need to be purchased from Space Station visitors or from a Galactic Trade Terminal. Once you have successfully crafted the Warp Cells, you should be able to fuel the Hyperdrive and go out exploring.

When your ship doesn’t have a hyperdrive, you will see a Distress signal randomly pop out on your screen. The only way to make this go away is to switch to the new ship, as some of us at GameSpot have found.

Long story short: They’re stuck in their star system unless they can find a hyperdrive blueprint.

And it looks like No Man’s Sky’s multiplayer features aren’t working (if it ever had them to begin with), so they can’t even wave at passing traffic! If not, it may also be possible to find the recipe in a factory or other NPC, or buy a Warp Cell if one is for sale on the market.
