No Man’s Sky Multiplayer Does Not Exist, Confirmed

Most of the time, it feels like we’re still alone despite being near NPCs.

The event occurred when Redditor TheGalacticCactus inadvertently landed on a planet which had been named by another player, Psytokat.

Like we said before players can find each other, but don’t jump into the game expecting an MMO-like experience.

Much of that comes down to the procedural nature of No Man’s Sky, with the game able to generate flora, fauna, wildlife and even entire planets based on a pre-set algorithm. “Game isn’t out… but we had like 160k discoveries uploaded today… so…”, wrote Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games in a No Man’s Sky Reddit AMA.

The introduction of more powerful console hardware in the shape of PS4 Neo could “fundamentally change” the core experience of No Man’s Sky, according to the games creator Sean Murray.

People who have pre-ordered the game and want to redeem their special items may not be seeing them because they are named differently in the game.

Whatever this game turns out to be, we’re intrigued right now – IGN’s review-in-progress says that “I feel it pulling me back in to do more exploring and unlocking new technologies”. It is a testament to how fantastic our network coders are that Discoveries are still working at all.

“With our game, often you’re not led to an objective”, Murray said in an interview with Vice.

It won’t just be the endings that differ, either; the game will follow one of three distinct “paths” based on player choices, and they’ll affect how the game unfolds.

Murray also revealed that 10 million species of alien creatures have been discovered in the short period the game has been playable.
