No Man’s Sky patch makes big changes to the game

No Man’s Sky has already released on the PlayStation 4, though it has been delayed to August 13 here in India. More than we could have predicted.

Murray revealed to the Daily Star that the a PS4 NEO release would mean a larger and vibrant universe, although there was no confirmation this would ever happen.

Throughout the stream, viewers have seen the players stand in the same space stations, speak with the same planetary denizens and stop by identical waypoints, only to never actually see each other.

Yesterday, Reddit user TheGalacticCactus planned to meet up with Twitch streamer Psytokat on the same planet in No Man’s Sky.

According to the game’s lead developer Sean Murray, we should not go into No Man’s Sky expecting it to be a multiplayer game at all. “If you hoped for things like pvp multiplayer or city building, piloting freighters, or building civilisations… that isn’t what NMS is”, said Murray in a post on the game’s official blog.

Sean Murray has tweeted about this, but hasn’t really provided any answers as to why these players weren’t able to see each other. It is a testament to how unbelievable our network coders are that Discoveries are still working at all.

It won’t just be the endings that differ, either; the game will follow one of three distinct “paths” based on player choices, and they’ll affect how the game unfolds. But as it stands, the discovery that the game is apparently not a multiplayer experience in the sense that you can not meet other players has stirred up controversy for the game.

The Hello Games managing editor also hinted that they want to be the “Johnny Depp of studios”, in a way that allows them to mix various styles from contemporary and indie games.

It’s worth noting, that while the players were in the same place at the same time, they were at different points in the respective planet’s day/night cycle. Will any of you be playing No Man’s Sky this week?
