No more captures for Guardiola

“We’ll give a warm welcome to Guardiola and Claudio Bravo, who will have the chance to say goodbye to the fans”.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has played down speculation linking him with a move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, stating “there is no interest” in the England worldwide.

Koeman spoke to the assembled press at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Stoke City.

However, while insisting the Chile worldwide was not suffering from any fitness issues, Guardiola has apparently ruled out the prospect of handing him a start this weekend.

Guardiola values Bravo because of the goalkeeper’s high-level experience with Barca and Copa America champion Chile, and his ability to start attacks from the back – a trait of Guardiola’s sides and the reason why Joe Hart has lost his starting place at Etihad Stadium.

“He’s fit but he’s not going to play this weekend”, said Guardiola. There isn’t a better team to check our current level as a team.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Liverpool should sign Joe Hart.

City won the first-leg of the Champions League qualifier 5-0 and Hart was barely tested during the return leg.

Bravo’s arrival from Barcelona on Thursday afternoon in a £17m move threw Hart’s future out the door with the transfer window slamming shut on Wednesday evening, as the former number 1 has already seen his place between the sticks at the Etihad taken by Cabellero.

“He deserves what he deserves, I will try to be fair with him”.

It was expected Hart would leave the club before the transfer window closes on 31 August, but an immediate transfer is no longer certain.

He added: “We want the best for [Hart]”.

“He played in Real Sociedad and after two years in Barcelona, playing important games in the national team and helped with his teammates create something special in Chile”.

“Tonight I played for Man City and I’ve enjoyed it and I have done every time I have played for Man City”, he said.

“We have a top manager that the club has wanted for a long, long time”, said the England goalkeeper, who was making his first competitive appearance of the season.

Gone are the days of Pellegrini’s 4-4-2 or predictable 4-2-3-1, players are cropping up in unexpected positions and performing exceptionally in roles that other managers would not have even considered them for.
