No plan to curtails NAB’s powers, says Ch Nisar
“The provincial government deems the actions of FIA and NAB (National Accountability Bureau) in Sindh as “a strode over move” (sic) of their limits and jurisdiction”, said a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference in Taxila, he said his statement regarding the existence of Daesh in Pakistan was quoted in a wrong way.
He recalled that the NAB institution was, in fact, constituted by military dictator General Pervez Musharraf against PML-N leadership. So when the hostile governments could not prove any irregularity against PML-N leadership, how can they be scared now.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan clarified on Sunday that some businessmen had complained to the prime minister that NAB was harassing them.
“The Sindh government would appreciate if Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in order to keep the record straight, takes a bold initiative to constitute a judicial commission to look into the FIA raids in Sindh”, the statement said.
“If Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has any misunderstanding about the mega scandals, then I am ready to give a briefing to all the institutions concerned and even for judicial scrutiny”, he said.
He said PPP government was the only regime in the world that did not spare pilgrims by siphoning off huge money in Haj and Umra occasions.
While talking about the Sindh government’s criticism of the FIA, the interior minister said that the Sindh government should approach the court if they had any objections to the FIA’s working instead of hurling allegations against him and at the premier investigative agency of the country. The minister also revealed that the FIA’s anti-corruption recoveries during the last two and a half years reached Rs15 billion contrary to the previous regime when these recoveries usually remained limited in the millions.
Responding to a question, he said his offer for a judicial commission is not conditional to the return of Asif Ali Zardari from overseas. He recommended to increase the salaries and other benefits of FIA officials. The “warning” led the media to speculate that the government was planning to clip NAB’s powers. Nisar said the Supreme Court or retired judges on whom all the parties had consensus could be requested for a commission.
The Minister said government has written to New Delhi about the visit of special investigation team to India.
Nisar said FIR of Mumbai case was registered in both India and Pakistan and same was done in the Pathankot case, adding legal position of the case could not change with what the governments were saying.

He said India has exchanged some telephone numbers in connection with Pathankot incident.
