No player can be substituted for failing dope test: Vijay Goel

NADA has also found his food supplements clean, contrary to his claims of them being tampered with. Even more important than October 9, 2010, when he won the Commonwealth Games gold in New Delhi, or September 12, 2015, when he clinched bronze in the World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas.

But the new turn of events does not seem to have fazed the Indian Olympic Association, which informed United World Wrestling of their desire to enter Parveen Rana as the replacement for Narsingh Yadav.

“This is a serious conspiracy against me”.

“I sincerely hope that you would take the steps with urgency and give justice to the medal aspirant sportsman our country”. “NADA has tested me around five times in recent months and I have always been cleared”, he said. My sole objective in life was to win an Olympic medal for my country and I’m being denied that by some selfish people who can not digest the fact that an “outsider” from Mumbai is excelling in a sport that has traditionally been dominated by wrestlers from North India. Olympic bronze medallist and fellow-wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt, too has come out in support of Narsingh.

Hours after the Wrestling Federation of India named Praveen Rana as embattled wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s replacement, Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel on Wednesday said as per rules no player in the Olympics squad can be substituted if he or she has been suspended for failing dope test.

Narsingh Yadav fought a tough battle against two-time Olympic medal victor Sushil Kumar to be part of Indian contingent participating in Rio Olympics 2016.

The Olympic medal victor made the comments following Narsingh Yadav’s recent positive dope test, which came barely a few days before the start of the Rio Olympics.

Soon, Narsingh declared his innocence claiming that it is all a conspiracy against him.

“But I don’t think it is a debatable issue because whatever be the reason of doping, not only us but the whole world is also watching it and I think it will be extremely hard for him to go to Rio”. The games are scheduled for the August 5th and will start in Rio, but the promising wrestler Yadav’s dope test report shocked everyone because it showed the presence of metadienone, an anabolic steroid in his body.

The suspect is also an athlete, a 65 kg wrestler and has represented India in the junior ranks.
