Following the launch of the very first checklist, RJD leader Lalu Prasad, and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish had assaulted the Center for not choosing any town of Bihar Pradesh within the list of 20 selected for transforming them into intelligent towns.

There’s been no ” discrimination ” within the choice of towns that are 20 wise, the Center stated on Friday, by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of prejudice against his condition in collection procedure amid accusations. “Since Bihar is less urbanised, only three of its cities could find a place in the overall 100 cities shortlisted at first”.

He submitted a letter to Naidu enumerating anomalies related to selection of cities for the smart city mission.

Issues like disaster relief, modernisation of police forces and a few other matters were also discussed by Mr Kumar with Mr Singh, official sources said. “You’ve to perform hard when you have to stay the 20”, he explained.

“This is well know fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced special package”. Naidu said: “my very own city isn’t there”.

Apart from Bhubaneshwar, the cities in the first batch are Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bhopal, NDMC area of Delhi, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Jabalpur, Visakhapatnam, Solapur, Davanagere, Indore, Coimbatore, Kakinada, Belagavi, Udaipur, Guwahati and Ludhiana.

Under the programme, each selected city will be given Rs 500 crore over a period of five years by the Centre with the respective States expected to make the matching contribution.
