No Powerball victor, jackpot may reach $1.3 billion

But no one matched all five numbers and the Powerball. The odds to win the largest lottery prize in US history were one in 292.2 million. By Saturday’s drawing, the amount was almost $950 million. The victor has 182 days to claim the prize from lottery headquarters at 1800 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore.

America awaits its first lottery billionaire, after the Powerball jackpot rollover hit a world-record figure of $1.3 billion (£895.4 million).

While odds are not in your favor at one in 292 million, Christopher just hopes it’s a Colorado victor as it would be a great boost to the state’s economy and the outdoors.

The jackpot was at $40 million on November 4 and has been growing ever since.

The $1 million ticket was bought at Convenience on the Go, 1441 Holland Road in Suffolk.

The US saw sales of $US277 million on Friday alone and more than $US400 million were expected on Saturday, according to Gary Grief, the executive director of the Texas Lottery. Saturday’s draw had the jackpot at $900 million, but people continued to buy, buy, buy so the jackpot has risen, risen, risen.

The numbers drawn Saturday night were 32, 16, 19, 57 and 34, and the Powerball was 13.

Grocery store and gas station managers expect their buildings to be flooded with people buying tickets.

The biggest winning jackpot was in 2012 with a MegaMillions game that was worth $656 million.

Once you successfully manage to beat the odds and win, you have the option to be paid $1.3 billion through annual payments over 29 years, or you can collect the lump sum of $806 million.

One upside is that Pennsylvania exempts lottery winnings from income taxes as long as the ticket was bought within the state.

Powerball is played in 44 of 50 states and three American territories.

Well, that depends on the specific person tax rate and state and local taxes, but winners can generally take home about a third of the total cash jackpot.
