“We can also think of no better city than Glasgow to host our 600 competitors who will compete in the men’s and women’s European Artistic Championships”.

She said: “Hosting the World Gymnastics Championships is another coup for Scotland and a real legacy from last year’s Commonwealth Games”.

The historic event, which will incorporate both a team and an individual format, forms part of the inaugural multi-event European Sports Championships to be held across Glasgow and Berlin in a unique partnership with a few of Europe’s top sports.

The event, which will see men and women compete for their countries on the same course at the same time in top-level competition for the first time in the history of the sport.

I am delighted that we were able to work with the European Tour, Ladies European Tour and the European Sports Championships to make this happen”.

“We were fourth past year so we know we are more than capable of making that final and for us our goal is to be challenging for the medals”. But as long as I can stay fit and healthy and stay away from injuries then I would love to stay on for another two Olympic cycles.

“I’m really looking forward to competing at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, I competed there for the Commonwealth Games, but for the Commonwealths it was a home crowd but equally it wasn’t”.

“Out there we want everyone to do really well and this team effort out there was brilliant and I couldn’t have asked for any more”.
