No Surprise, Browns Take Garrett With Top Pick

The Browns later took MI defensive back Jabrill Peppers with Houston’s original pick at No. 25 and traded up to draft David Njoku, a tight end from Miami, at No. 29.

With 107 players already -selected in the National Football League draft, the Bears will spend Saturday morning finalizing any changes needed for their draft board. Bears General Manager Ryan Pace said late last night Mike Glennon, who joined up with Chicago in March, is still the starter.

From Thursday to Saturday, thousands gathered in Philadelphia for the annual NFL Draft.

Shaheen is a massive man – 6-foot-6, 278 pounds – with a basketball background. Glennon developed the reputation of a strong leader over the course of four years in Tampa, but the dynamic inside the Bears’ quarterbacks room is worth watching moving forward.

In 2015, Shaheen had 70 catches for 803 yards and 10 touchdowns. But I had a bug in me after watching an Ohio State game and just made the switch after that year.

It’s important to keep in mind that if Chicago had stayed put and Trubisky was taken at no. 2, the Bears still wouldn’t have been in bad shape if they were set on selecting a quarterback.

“All they said was they’re very excited and that they couldn’t call me while I was back in the room because they were going nuts in the war-room”, he said.

The Bears added Dion Sims in free agency and still have Zach Miller on the roster, but Shaheen has the most upside of them all.

Chicago entered the night holding the third overall pick. “There’s no point. It’s going to be bad”.

According to ESPN.com’s Jeff Dickerson, some fans inside the United Center booed the Chicago Bears’ first-round pick when his picture was shown in the arena. The picks they made during the draft look more like a team at the beginning of a long rebuilding process. “That was one our goals”.

“The ability to trade back and get a player that we really targeted and a guy we want was exciting”. Trubisky is an accurate passer, with good size, and a great feel for the rush inside the pocket.

On Friday, Trubisky did what many new draftees do: he went to another sporting event in the city of the team that picked him.

Time will tell if the Bears are right or wrong in their bet on Trubisky, but one thing is for certain: Down the line, if Trubisky turns out to be a bust, no one will be lamenting the three small potatoes, middle-of-the-road draft picks the Bears traded Thursday. The Bears can pretty much get out from under Glennon’s contract following the 2017 season should he fail to perform.
