No TIDAL, No Problem: Beyoncé Serves “Lemonade” To iTunes & Amazon

Beyonce ruled the weekend with Lemonade, a visual and touching marvel in support of her album of the same name. Several days later, the album is still breaking the Internet (along with iTunes’ music charts), and for that, Beyoncé deserves an award.

Whatever personal strife Beyoncé details on Lemonade suggests that she’s spun the lemons life has handed her and made them into something better, stronger and ultimately sweeter. But don’t go rushing to delete that Tidal account, because while Apple can sell downloads of Lemonade, the album isn’t available to stream on Apple Music, giving Tidal the exclusive on audio streaming rights.

And although she has since released both the album and film on iTunes and Jay Z’s Tidal platform, the HBO special is eligible for consideration at the top TV prizegiving. Beyoncé’s face bares the cover, but a number of directors worked on the project. Variety says that HBO is now working out the kinks for deciding credit.

When Lemonade premiered on Saturday night, it was an event. Beyoncé has already been twice-nominated at the Emmys, first for the 2013 Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show, and then again for the HBO On the Run Tour concert special with Jay Z.
