No timeframe on Kane absence, Pochettino says

In worrying news for Tottenham Hotspur fans, an ankle injury could keep star striker Harry Kane sidelined for the next two months.

“We have another striker in Vincent, who can do the same”. He’s not a natural striker, but Spurs have added depth in the midfield so they can handle his absence there and Son has shown he can play striker before, especially with South Korea.

He said: “Now is a big opportunity for him to confirm what we expect from him”. Tottenham signed Janssen and built squad depth to handle whatever came their way this season.

“Now I think he will have a big opportunity up to show his real quality”.

The 22-year-old has only started once this season leading Tottenham’s attack while Harry Kane played behind him in a central attacking role against Crystal Palace.

The last time Kane missed a Premier League game was October 2014.

The Spurs striker suffered the injury against Sunderland on Sunday, having scored the game’s only goal to send them up to third.

“You can see his qualities”. It’s always hard when you don’t have an opportunity to play – strikers are always excited to play and sometimes feel the pressure. “Now he needs to be calm”.

Speaking at the Spurs training ground in Enfield yesterday, Pochettino said his belief in Janssen had been confirmed after he watched him play in the Ireland versus Holland friendly in Dublin in May.

“He’s a fighter, the mentality is fantastic and fits very well with us in the team”. But Mauricio Pochettino will look to Janssen to fill the void left by Kane’s long injury absence. Let us know your thoughts below and we’ll post the results later this week!

“He got a ligament ankle problem and we need to assess every day and see”, Pochettino told a press conference at the Tottenham training ground.

“This is why you can’t give a time-frame [for his absence]”, Perez said when asked regarding the reason for a lack of time frame on the recovery, as quoted by the Guardian. We can not guess whether it’s eight weeks, 10, four, one.

Kane has an ankle ligament injury but no time frame has been put on his return to action
