No Winner. Powerball Jackpot Grows To $1.3 Billion

By 4 p.m. Sunday, Californians had purchased 10 million lottery tickets, a significant slowdown from the same time period before last weekend’s drawing day, when more than 20 million lottery tickets were sold before 4 p.m. Across 44 states and three US territories where Powerball is played, more than $1 billion of tickets were sold Saturday.

The winning numbers – disclosed live on television and online – were 16-19-32-34-57 and the Powerball number 13.

Saturday’s Powerball drawing swelled to $900 million after no one won the $500 million jackpot earlier in the week.

For lottery players, there is still another chance. Each ticket is worth $1 million.

While the $1.3 billion is by far the largest ever up for grabs in North America, Spain’s latest elGordo lottery, or “The Fat One”, had a prize pool of $2.4 billion prize. “There’s so many organizations that could use the help”, she said.Schurr said he waits until the jackpot gets big before he jumps into the lottery game.

Sales throughout the USA were “off the charts” for the latest Powerball draw, the release stated. The odds of winning the largest prize in US lottery history were 1 in 292.2 million.

The $1 million ticket matched five numbers and the $2 million victor was a Power Play victor.

Buying more tickets to increase the probability of winning doesn’t do much good, either, especially with the meager wages many Americans make.

Granite Staters aren’t waiting until the last moment to buy tickets for the next Powerball drawing Wednesday. And if your group is lucky, lottery officials recommend preventing hard feelings by putting in writing how you plan to split the prize, since it’s easy for misunderstandings to crop up when hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake.

The jackpot for Saturday was $949.8 million annuity, or $588.8 million cash option. To win the jackpot, all six numbers must be correct.

Some say it’s unbelievable no one has won yet. The largest was Rob and Tuesday Anderson of Georgetown who claimed a $128.6 million jackpot in 2010. This meant the outright win by two ticket holders was particularly bad news for the five people who got five numbers and the bonus ball and won a relatively miserly £64,426.
