Franklin’s name was mentioned as a Miami candidate by CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd in a report published Monday.

As he wound down his press conference after an emotional win over Maryland on Saturday, James Franklin reiterated he wouldn’t disclose the extent of players’ injuries and will hold on to that policy “for the next 35 years at Penn State”.

“I don’t like it, ” he said. “It’s insane because I’ve been around Penn State and have gone to the university’s soccer camps for as long as I can remember so being on the team and being a student here is an awesome feeling”. My family has sacrificed, I’ve worked by ass off to get to Penn State, to get here and this is where I want to be.

“Stuff like that, I guess a few people could look at it like as a compliment”. I’m not going to address it anymore. “This is where I want to be”. Like I said, I’ve worked like insane to get here.

As the players are focused on improving their football abilities, the coach said he remains committed to helping these players develop at Happy Valley.

“I think he did really good, especially since it was all blitz coverage on nearly every down”, Franklin said.

Franklin said he expects Barkley to be healthier than he’s been since he injured his right ankle last month against San Diego State.

“I don’t like it”, Franklin vented. The offensive line, which has used five different starting lineup combinations in eight games, is still hit-or-miss, but Barkley’s power and speed have given the offense balance and made third-down situations a lot more manageable for Penn State. Franklin has no ties to Miami but probably would have a better chance to win in the ACC Coastal rather than an increasingly brutal Big Ten East.

“Modifying practice this week, him being further away from [the injury], I expect him to be 100 percent, or as close as possible”.

Franklin has a 13-8 record at Penn State after he posted a 24-15 record in three seasons at Vanderbilt.

PSU has had issues in the middle of the O-line for much of the season and Franklin and O-line coach Herb Hand inserted Laurent at center and kicked Mangiro, a veteran who has experience at center, guard and tackle, from center to left guard.

Brendan Mahon replaced Nelson at tackle, which he also did for the four games Nelson missed earlier this season. “I have a great job”.
