Nobody wants GST Bill, it is a victim of the

Jaitley made the remark in a blog post he released right after a meeting between leaders of the government and the Congress.

He dismissed suggestions that veterans in the party were not on the same page as Mr. Rahul Gandhi when it came to parliamentary strategy.

Also attacking Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in his strongest criticism yet as minister, Mr Jaitley said, “Rahul Gandhi really needs to stop being a cry baby”.

The Congress managers have adopted a new strategy in Parliament saying its protests had no links with the developments in the Herald case and the opposition party was merely flagging the need for action against some BJP leaders who the Grand Old Party has alleged were tainted. The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the reasons for the ongoing washout of the winter session “keep changing by the hour”.

Rahul Gandhi’s endeavour to revive the National Herald is a “unique and praiseworthy” attempt for the cause of promoting free and fair journalism, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said and accused BJP of launching a malicious campaign on the issue.

“The nation is waiting for the Parliament to discuss public issues, to legislate and approve a historic constitution amendment enabling the goods and service tax (GST)”. The vendetta charge and the Congress’s disruption of Parliament in the winter session are being looked at as a way of drawing a historical parallel between Indira Gandhi’s handling of the Shah Commission enquiry against her, and this.

Congress Rajya Sabha deputy leader Anand Sharma said the talks between the government and Opposition could not be confined to just the GST Bill issue. “All this is being indefinitely delayed”, hardly means anything here. The current session is also threatened with a washout.

Jaitley threw the Congress a dare: “Those who claim the legacy of Panditji must ask themselves the question, what kind of history they are making”. A source explained that the presence of the Lok Sabha members was important because if and when the Rajya Sabha passes the bill with amendments, it will return to the Lower house to be signed and stamped for its approval.

“The Congress party seems to be in no mood of supporting the GST bill”.
