NodPods: The Best Sleep-On-The-Go Solution Yet?

And then you too could achieve the impossible dream. It’s a common and annoying problem, which is why the Nodpod company invented a neck hammock of sorts.

The head hammock was created by Paula Blankenship from Kentucky, after years and years of sleepless travel for work.

“For years I searched to find a solution for forward head motion but nothing on the market seemed to work”, the 53-year-old inventor adds. I also designed many prototypes for travel pillows and blankets but nothing worked as it should. The simple solution came to me while traveling on a plane to visit a friend.

It recreates how you sleep in bed (with your head at a 90 degree angle) but in an upright position, so you can nap on the go.

The designers of the contraption claim to have found the “solution to awesome sleep while travelling by recreating how you sleep in a bed but in an upright position”.

Plus, I’m sure Blakenship, a professional commercial interior designer, will be able to refine the look of the NodPod to make it easier on the eye. Over 2,000 people have already helped propel their goal of $20,000 to nearly $80,000 with 21 days left in the fundraising.

Paul said her invention stops people suffering jet lag or back and neck pain, whilst simultanously protecting them from the peril of “waking on your fellow passengers”. If you’re interested in buying it for your next long flight, you can order one through Kickstarter.
