As long as there’s a market for dumb phones, handset makers will continue to launch feature phones, and Microsoft is no exception. The 230 is encased within a polycarbonate body with a sandblasted aluminum back cover.

Furthermore, the earliest this could happen is in the fourth quarter of 2016 when Nokia’s contract with Microsoft is over.

The Nokia 230 is NOT a smartphone – it is a feature phone meant for emerging markets, where the Finland-based company had remained prominent even as the iPhone and Android flagship makers ruled the roost in the U.S., U.K., and other developed markets. That may not seem like a particularly impressive camera if you’re used to smartphones, but it’s not too shabby for a feature phone at that price – many only have VGA cameras. They pack 16 MB of RAM, 2 MP rear and front camera, both sides with LED flashes.

Also, it will bring to users the major social networks, has a FM radio, and the new feature of two 2 megapixel cameras -one on the back and one on the front. Microsoft expects the handset’s price to begin at 55 dollars.

The Nokia 230 and Nokia 230 Dual SIM are essentially the same devices aside from the fact that one has Dual SIM capabilities.

Meanwhile, the basic phones aren’t the only Microsoft products making a splash in recent headlines. Connected to the internet, the phone has access to Facebook, MSN Weather, Bing Search, Opera Mini browser and Twitter, possibly installing several other simple applications on demand.

Elsewhere, there’s microUSB connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 3.5mm AV connector, meaning this really is a feature phone that’s packed full of useful functions. It houses a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240p) LCD display. It also comes with a microSD card slot, allowing you to expand the storage capacity with up to 32 GB.

But the phone becomes truly outstanding when we look at the battery’s life.
