That said, we might see a Nokia branded tablet for sure this year. The lineup is said to include both smartphones and tablets.

However, the launch could be pushed to 2017 depending on “testing and development”, with Nokia expected to make an announcement before the end of the year. Nokia is also establishing its network business to further strengthen its device portfolio.
It should be noted that these devices will not be manufactured at the plants where Nokia’s earlier smartphones were manufactured, and as per the company’s brand licensing deal, the products will be manufactured by Finnish company HMD Global.
No details are now available regarding the specifications of these upcoming Nokia smartphones and tablets, but they will all run Google’s popular Android operating system, marking a first for Nokia. However, previous rumors have indicated that Nokia is planning to introduce two premium handsets this year that will run Android 7.0 Nougat.
The new Nokia smartphone will come in two sizes: 5.2-inches and 5.5-inches.
Both are expected to be water and dust-resistant with IP68 rating. They are likely to pack an OLED screen with QHD resolution.
Pekka Rantala is a former Nokia employee and was CEO of Rovio Entertainment, makers of popular Angry Birds franchise.
The leaked images of Nokia branded devices also suggest use of colourful palettes for the device casing, which has been typical of Nokia devices.

It will be his job to revive the Nokia brand and essentially be the one to market the upcoming new Android-powered devices. “Nokia is a globally recognized brand, and we have a chance to rejuvenate it like never before”, Rantala told CNET. There isn’t any strong information on the actual device line-up, or their specifications, but it is definitely exciting to actually see Nokia back from the dead.
