Nokia OZO Professional Virtual Reality Camera
Nokia might have been anticipated for a mobile phone, but the company has finally started pre-orders for the OZO VR camera that it unveiled back in July.

The $60,000 camera captures stereoscopic 3D video and spacial audio through eight synchronized shutter sensors and integrated microphones.
OZO’s filmed content can be published for commercially available VR viewing hardware such as head mounted displays (HMDs), with immersive, full 360-degree imaging and spatially accurate original sound. After teasing its plans this summer, the Finnish firm has today confirmed a forthcoming pro level VR camera that’s suitable for live broadcast.
Announced in a ritzy Los Angeles setting, Nokia has opened up preorders for the OZO where for a large sum of $60,000 (about £40,000, AU$83,000), you get an OZO VR camera kit. Its 500GB capacity is enough to store 45 minutes of video and audio, according to Nokia.
Available in Lava Gray, the OZO also boasts WiFi enabled remote control operation, a fanless cooling system, a rechargeable lithium ion battery, and weighs almost 10 pounds.
That being said, Nokia has made it abundantly clear that it means Ozo for professionals rather than amateaurs – probably one reason why it didnt face any scruples while putting all those zeroes on the price tag.
The Ozo also comes with wireless control and real-time monitoring software that shows simultaneous input from all eight cameras. “OZO is a powerful tool designed for the professional creators who will answer the most exciting and intriguing questions about the possibilities for virtual reality”.

Despite Nokia’s efforts in creating a virtual reality camera, don’t expect it to come to market with its own Oculus-style VR headset.
