NOPD releases photos, video from attempted armed robbery of Gentilly Wal-Mart

The NOPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for the attempted armed robbery Saturday of the Walmart at 4301 Chef Menteur Highway.

The Gentilly Wal-Mart employs about 300 people, said Clint Sampson, who manages another Wal-Mart store and was called to the scene to assist the Gentilly store with reopening. The evacuation was reported after 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police spokesman Garry Flot told CBS affiliate WWL-TV that all employees had been evacuated from the store.

Police said the suspect entered the store with a gun.

There have been no reports of injuries or shots fired. WWLTV.com A SWAT team searched the store. Customers and employees began running out of the store and police were called. He was last seen running east towards Louisa Street then in an unknown direction. There were no hostages in this incident.
