NORAD prepares to track Santa’s journey
As she said that, all of the other girls’ eyes widened in amazement.

Advertisers and retailers jumped on Santa’s sleigh, and faster than you can say, “Ho, ho, ho”, he was in shopping malls across the country. By the middle of the month I had decided that Santa had recognized my name from the incident when I had kicked and punched my way out of his lap – despite my mother’s reassurances to the contrary – and all hope was lost for any kind of Christmas that year.
“We’ve received this special preview from one of Santa’s many developer elves, who are hard at work in the North Pole helping Santa prepare for his big day”. That’s really what the Santa’s Hut in Woodstock is all about – keeping the tradition of Christmas going, he said.
On Dec. 12, Santa met with upwards of 200 children and found himself sitting in his hut until 8 p.m., three hours longer than his scheduled appearance. He is said to have started working in the mail room sorting out mail and then slowly worked his way to being the head of all the elves and the person who delivers gifts to kids.
The kids crowd around Anna to watch a video on the history of the Santa Tracker on the smartphone app. These activities are in support of the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, which leads the Santa monitoring effort. “Is he near me?’ It’s very much magical”, said Campbell.
“What do you want for Christmas?” But, to be frank about it; I think you’re overthinking it.
NORAD Tracks Santa is a global experience, delighting generations of families everywhere. Let the kids be nice; you two need to get a little naughty, if you catch my snowdrift!
My mom decided before she had kids that Santa in our house would be different. The next year, he was Santa at local businesses.
And the next morning, “it’s all gone”, Kailey said. Children and parents can call the NORAD operations floor at 1-877-446-6723 for live updates on Santa or track Santa on the web at www.noradsanta.org. Since then, thousands of volunteers and corporate contributors have helped NORAD keep the program alive.

Starting on December 23, NORAD follows Santa’s journey from his liftoff at the North Pole to each of the world’s continents using its powerful radar system, which detects heat using infrared sensors normally used to identify missiles. NORAD provides warning of impending missile and air attacks, safeguards the air sovereignty of North America, and maintains airborne forces for defense against attack.
