Ellen Yang had an RBI single to kick off a four-run first inning and Salisbury beat Rhode Island 4-2 Wednesday night in the championship game of the Little League Softball World Series. Going 4-1, the girls from Rowan Little League have outscored their opponents by a score of 39-4, including a dominant 8-0 performance against Texas in the semifinal. The whole game came down to the bottom of the 6 inning with Iowa trailing by one run with two runners on base. But Warwick Pitcher Emily Carter struck out the final 2 batters of the game to secure the win.

Coach Kevin Detroioa said he tells his team to keep a level head when playing with so much media attention.

“Great effort. We’re proud of those girls”, Anne Robinson, a teacher at St. Peter’s School, wrote in a text message after the game.
