North Carolina jobless rate worse in July

The state Office of Employment and Training said Thursday that last month’s seasonally adjusted rate in Kentucky was 5.2 percent. Larimer County’s July unemployment rate fell to 3.4 percent, four-tenths of a percentage point from June.

“Unemployment remains at 4.6 percent and is lower the national rate, while our monthly and annual gains in private sector jobs are significant”, said Reggie Newson, secretary of the DWD.

“We’re creating 100,000 jobs a year, but we seem to be adding more people to the labor force than we are creating jobs”.

A new state report says Nebraska’s unemployment rate rose a tenth of a point to hit 2.7 percent in July.

The state has lost most of the improvements in the unemployment rate achieved earlier this year.

Unemployment was lowest in Charleston and Lexington counties, which both posted rates of 5.3 percent. While that number contains construction workers – an industry that is growing immensely with a mini-housing boom – the category is not further reduced to reveal oil and gas jobs alone.

In the last month, hospitality jobs grew by 2,100. Some of those losses were offset by gains in government, professional and business services and financial activities.
