In his brief remarks before their joint press conference, Trump praised Japan as an “important and steadfast ally”.

Speaking at a joint news conference with President Trump, he said: “North Korea must fully comply with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions”.

On trade, Mr Abe said he welcomed the establishment of a working dialogue framework led by the two vice-premiers of both countries, following the withdrawal by the United States from the Tran-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a multilateral trade deal between the United States and 12 Asian-Pacific countries including Japan. The Japanese government frantically prepared counterarguments before the summit.

He said he planned to use the time to discuss the future of the world, the Pacific region and U.S.

Abe has visited the United States several times in recent months, but Friday’s was his first trip to the White House since Trump’s inauguration. Focusing on the positive, he said the Abe visit had been “very very good” and that he and the Japanese leader “got to know each other very, very well” over their two days of meals, meetings and golfing. He says the two leaders are developing a good relationship, which he predicts will be good for Japan.

Concerning the U.S. Marine Corps’ Futenma Air Station in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture, both sides confirmed that relocating it to the Henoko district in Nago in the prefecture was “the only solution”.

The firing is the first since Trump became President but past year the communist state conducted more than 20 missile tests and two nuclear tests. It also comes after US defense chief James Mattis, in a visit to Seoul, said any use of nuclear weapons by North Korea would be met with an “effective and overwhelming” response.

“With President Trump taking on the leadership, I’m sure there will be major scale infrastructure investments will be made, including the high-speed train”, Abe said, promoting his country’s high speed rail technology. The meeting ended without trouble, with the two leaders reaffirming their commitment to a strong security alliance while avoiding notable frictions in trade and currency issues.

The firing of a ballistic missile would be North Korea’s first such test of the year and an implicit challenge to Trump, who stood with Abe at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida who stood with Abe at his Mar-a-Lago Club in south Florida and said he stood by Japan “100 percent”.

Abe is expected to propose a comprehensive economic cooperation plan called the “Japan-U.S. growth and employment initiative”.
