Officials in Seoul say North Korea launched five more short-range missiles into the sea Monday.

In Seoul, the US special representative for North Korea policy, Sung Kim, and his South Korean counterpart, Kim Hong-kyun, held talks about sanctions on North Korea.

Earlier this week, the United States confirmed that the two missiles North Korea had fired last week into the Sea of Japan were also ballistic missiles.

The North was hit by strengthened United Nations sanctions earlier this month in response to its fourth ever nuclear test in January and subsequent long-range rocket launch.

In addition to that a US researcher claimed that the latest satellite images indicated activity at the North Korea’s main nuclear test site, which suggests that an underground explosion could take place around any time.

“At this point, from the North Korean perspective it makes ideal sense to look tough”, he said. It is unclear if they were artillery shells or missiles, but they were fired from the northeastern city of Hamhung and flew about 125 miles. In addition to that, Obama had also signed other unilateral USA measures.

“Even after the worldwide community adopted strong sanctions, North Korea continues to attempt reckless provocations as shown through Kim Jong Un’s recent order”, Park said.

USA officials told Reuters the medium-range missiles appeared to be fired from road-mobile launchers.
