North Korea says Syria airstrikes prove its nukes justified
Speaking on a TV program, Ichita Yamamoto, a lawmaker involved in North Korea policy issues inside the party, said that because of the nuclear factor, the United States would be more careful toward North Korea than toward Syria.

When Xi came to the U.S. two years ago, Trump attacked the former president Barack Obama’s red-carpet welcome, claiming he would have offered a Big Mac rather than a state dinner to a leader whose country he has accused of “raping” the American economy. But I do think it necessarily sends a signal to Xi Jinping that this is a president that means business.
North Korea is pledging to boost its defenses following President Trump’s decision to strike a Syrian airfield, calling the move “absolutely unpardonable”.
But the two days of meetings appeared heavier on optics than substance.
The widely anticipated meeting of the leaders of the world’s two largest economies was largely overshadowed by the US missile strikes at Syria.
In response, Hwang stressed that South Korea and the US should further strengthen close coordination against North Korea’s possible provocations.
The progress had the US host beaming.
“They recognize that shows our clear determination to crack down on this sort of activity”, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told reporters. The report did not name the official, which is common in KCNA reports.
The condemnation of the airstrike in Syria and threats to test more missiles is yet another move by Kim Jong Un to defy resolutions passed by the United Nations and related measures created to thwart the ability of North Korea to develop nuclear weapons. Within Trump’s administration, divisions remain over how to approach China. It was the first direct USA assault on the Russian-backed government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in six years of civil war. He did not elaborate.
After the meeting, Trump took Xi on a walk around the manicured grounds of his lavish Spanish-style complex.
Xi said the delegations covered important topics and have established a good friendship and working relationship. “For the peace and stability of the world, we will also fulfil our historical responsibility”.
The US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met for the first time at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on April 6 and 7, to discuss vital issues mutually facing by the two powerful countries and issues of global concerns to each other.
On Tuesday, Syrian opposition forces stated that some 80 people were killed and 200 injured in a chemical weapon attack in the Syrian Idlib province, blaming the Syrian army for the incident.
They remarked generally about “progress” in their relationship and optimism about the future.
Chinese state media said Wednesday the two leaders had spoken by phone, in an apparent effort to avoid further escalation after Trump deployed the aircraft carrier-led strike group in a show of force. Days ahead of President Xi’s meeting with his USA counterpart, the former gave the indication that it would plan action against North Korea unilaterally if China did not cooperate with America. He believes that as a result of a better relationship between the U.S. and China, “lots of very potentially bad problems will be going away”.
The nuclear-powered, 97,000-ton Vinson, one of 10 active USA aircraft carriers, has more than 60 aircraft and about 5,000 personnel.
The White House said Trump also stressed to Xi the importance of creating “reciprocal market access” that did not disadvantage American workers. So the summit’s one concrete deliverable was a Chinese proposal accepted by the United States. Mr. Trump also expected Mr. Xi to “step up” and help rein in North Korea.
Trump noted that “only time will tell” whether the two countries’ trade relationship would improve.
During a visit to China last month, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reiterated Washington’s “one China” policy, making it unnecessary for the two leaders to discuss the issue again, according to Wong Ming-hsien (翁明賢), director of Tamkang University’s Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies.
Many speculated that China would offer concessions up front.

On Friday, after Trump and Xi met, Liu Jieyi, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, said military actions will only worsen the suffering of the Syrian people and make the situation in Syria and the region more complicated and turbulent. More investment by Chinese companies in the USA creating jobs for the American could reverse Trump’s negative impression of China’s trade with the United States.
