North Korea test rings alarm bell
It’s unclear what North Korea hopes to gain from these tests, and Cyr says that it’s unlikely the country is trying to incite a war. She is on very bad terms with South Korea and Japan, both major powers in their own right, backed by the United States.

North Korea yesterday accused the United States of pushing the Korean peninsula to “the point of explosion” after it dispatched two huge bombers in a show of force against Pyongyang.
North Korea’s claim to have used “standardized” warheads in the detonation makes some outsiders worry that it is making headway in its push to develop small, sophisticated warheads that can be mounted on missiles that can reach the USA mainland. In theory, North Korea could have at least 20 nuclear bombs by the end of the year and produce at least seven nuclear weapons each year. The accelerated pace of testing suggests that North Korea may be able to develop more powerful weapons and much more effective delivery systems much earlier than anticipated.
When North Korea reportedly tested a nuclear weapon late last week it was, literally, an earth shaking event.
North Korea is, therefore, planning to make worldwide appeals for donations to buttress the efforts of relief agencies already working in the country, right after they defied worldwide law to detonate their fifth nuclear test, putting them closer to the supreme global crime of mounting nuclear warheads on intercontinental ballistic missiles. They said that although it is hard to estimate the exact amount of nuclear fuel the country possesses, its latest nuclear test shows there is no dearth.
China, the North’s chief ally, backed the March resolution but is more resistant to harsh new sanctions this time after USA and South Korea made a decision to deploy a sophisticated anti-missile system in the South, which China adamantly opposes.
Mr Ban, a former South Korean foreign minister said U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power has already begun work on a new United Nations resolution with key council members including China.

North Korea is an example of this, as are Washington’s “brazen” efforts to provoke problems in the South China Sea by claiming to be a “protector of the rules”, the paper added. The red lights may be flashing in Washington, Tokyo and Seoul, but there’s no sign yet that North Korea’s impulsive leader is getting the message. They also block property and interests in property of the North Korean government.
