North Olmsted woman killed in Lorain County train crash

Troopers confirm to newsnet5 that 64-year-old Linda Radesic was killed at Route 82 and South Reed Road in Eaton Township at about 6 p.m.

Officials said the gates were down but Radesic drove around them. Tim Hoffman, Ohio Highway Patrol Elyria post assistant commander. Radesic was pronounced dead at the scene. Her vehicle collided with the train and was dragged 180 feet.

One of the car’s tires popped in the westbound lanes, between mile markers 107 and 108, just west of the Ohio 4 exit, according to a trooper the Register spoke with Sunday morning. The train was headed from Worcester, Mass., to Chicago.

The train had three locomotives and 42 cars, according to CSX, and it was carrying primarily consumer goods. When she attempted to drive around the crossing gate, her vehicle was struck by a CSX train.

Radesic was the second driver killed in a crash with a CSX train in Lorain County in 72 hours.

Highway Patrol says their investigation into the crash continues.
