The victims were identified as: Kelsey Annese, 21, of Webster, and Matthew Hutchinson, 24, of North Vancouver, British Columbia.

He said Colin Kingston, a former student at the same school, called his father early Sunday morning to say he’d gone to the house and killed his ex-girlfriend and would also end his own life.
Annese and Hutchinson were students at Geneseo and Kingston was a former student, police said.
“[The father] reported that his son, Colin Kingston, just called him from unknown number, and he said he murdered his girlfriend, … and he’s also going to kill himself”.
With the father having called 911, dispatched police officers found the bodies of Annese and Hutchinson in an upstairs bedroom where they had been fatally stabbed with what cops described a ‘large knife’. He previously played for several teams in the BCHL.
In addition to being a hockey player, Hutchinson was a member of the local fire company.
Hutchinson had played hockey since he was a child and wanted to be a firefighter after graduating. He and Annese, captain of the women’s basketball team at SUNY, had recently broken up after a three-year relationship, police said Monday.
There were no prior reports of a troubled relationship between Kingston and Annese, according to police.
“Nestled next to the Village of Geneseo – one of 24 communities nationwide to be recognized as a National Historic Landmark – the campus’ ivy-covered brick buildings evince a traditional college ambiance”, the college website says.
Like Hutchinson, Annese was a student athlete at SUNY, playing on the women’s basketball team.
In a press conference today, the police confirmed that incident was indeed a murder-suicide and added that Kingston had killed Amnese and Hutchinson with little resistance, as there was no sign of forced entry or a struggle.
Kingston and Annese had dated for three years before a recent breakup, according to family and friends, and Kingston allegedly had made suicidal comments in the past, but no one had heard him make any threats.
“With some of the information that was located at the scene…, we can say that one of the individuals may have been the perpetrator”, he said. “The district’s thoughts and prayers are with the Annese family during this hard time”.
The house is near the campus of SUNY Geneseo. He was majoring in geography with a business studies minor. “He put effort into these things like nobody else”, said fire chief Andrew Chanler.

Her coach, Scott Hemer, said the senior education major was selfless, and “a grinder” with a work ethic respected by her coaches and teammates.
