The FBI has arrested two men believed to be part of the “Crackas With Attitude” group which hit the headlines a year ago after leaking information on thousands of government officials to the public.

In January, the USA director of national intelligence James Clapper said that he, too, had been the victim of cyber pirates who had gained access to the personal account he used for internet and telephone service, managing even to intercept phone calls from his home, Motherboard reported. In one instance, they made phone calls to Verizon, pretending to be an employee or the government official to gain access.

According to the affidavit, Boggs said he wanted to carry on Cracka’s work if the leader was arrested. Harassing email messages sent via anonymized services threatening victims’ reputations and veiled physical threats against victims’ family members were also tactics, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the group didn’t rely on computer hacking to break into restricted accounts. According to Court documents, FBI investigators revealed the important information regarding this case. Obviously, he exposed many sensitive details he found on Brennan’s email account, including the form the CIA Director filled out to receive his top-secret security clearance, a 47-page document that contains personal details. The government has not released the names of the victims.

Last year, one hacker affiliated with the group, going by the nickname “Cracka”, told the New York Post he was motivated by “opposition to USA foreign policy and support to Palestine”.

In February, the group then used Twitter to post details on 29,000 Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Homeland Security officials, including their phone numbers and email addresses.

While Brennan is not named in the affidavit, he appears to be ‘Victim 1’.

Both suspects were arrested on Thursday, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Police are saying that over three other members of the hacking group live in the U.K, and the Crown Prosecution Service is investigating.

If you’ve never heard of a group of hackers called Crackas with Attitude, then it’s time to learn a bit about them. Boggs used “Incursio” as an online name.
