Brungodt is being held at the Cumberland County Jail and is facing federal charges of transmitting threatening communications. No further details were released.

The Press Herald (http://bit.ly/2atdvUi ) reports the sender said they meant to “shoot and kill as many police officers” as possible while positioned on top of a parking garage.
Police departments across the United States are on high alert following attacks in Dallas and Baton Rouge last month that killed eight police officers.
Police treated the threats seriously. As a result, Portland Police increased security at the police station and the nearby Cumberland County parking garage and closed the Cumberland County courthouse during the investigation.
The author claimed that he and his partners were “getting our Sig Sauer MCX.223-caliber rifles ready” as they were going to “shoot and kill as many police officers as they can”.
Espen Brungodt, 28, arrived in Boston with his family on July 26, according to Portland Police.
Police said this was the first time a “direct and pointed” threat was made to Portland officers. There is no indication members of his family were aware of his actions.
The Portland Press Herald reported Wednesday afternoon that Brungodt “responded to a request for comment by saying that he was staying at a Portland hotel and dared police to arrest him”. Police say he was not armed and did not resist arrest.

Federal agencies have joined the investigation. “I have booby trapped the garage with explosives, so don’t go there”.
