Norwich always believed ahead of United upset – Jerome

Man United suffered their third successive defeat following a 2-1 loss against Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Anthony Martial’s second-half strike acted as mere consolation as Norwich inflicted United’s first defeat at Old Trafford this season thanks to goals in either half from Cameron Jerome and Alexander Tettey.

‘Yes I worry about my job because I know that belief in a manager is very important and when you lose the games, the belief in the manager will decrease. I don’t think a change of management shall bring direct success – but that is what I believe.

The mean machine we were all lauding as the one bright element has become limp and sieve like against Wolfsburg, Bournemouth and now Norwich conceding ten goals in three matches.

Van Gaal admits that they should be beating Norwich at home and insisted that they stick together as a squad during these trying times.

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Boxing Day with a trip to Stoke City, before they host Chelsea at Old Trafford two days later.

The 3-1 win over Sunderland gives them a bit of breathing space from the drop zone, and appears to have stopped the rot as Guus Hiddink prepares to take over the hot seat from the now departed Mourinho, but there’s certainly a level of discontent in the dressing room that may well be hard for him to manage in the coming weeks. So this is special for us, this season.

Van Gaal was again questioned over his reliance on his self-proclaimed “philosophy” and whether he must abandon his more reserved tactical approach, but the ex-Netherlands boss feels the confidence of his players is the greater problem.

“You have to win against Norwich City, you have to win every home match”.

There is not a department or even an individual among this struggling United side you can imagine can spark the kind of turnaround Van Gaal is going to need to see the job through or even into 2016. “They press you high up the park and are really in your face”.

A number of players were not welcomed to the pitch in the usual fashion at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, as the fans let them know that they were not happy with the performances they had put in under departed manager Jose Mourinho. Many a team have come away from home against bigger sides and sat behind the ball and ended up being done by four or five. We showed good quality in certain areas on the pitch.
