Addressing the media at his party headquarters here, YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called the bandh a great success, as he vowed to continue the fight for the Special Category Status (SCS).
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had yesterday assured the House that the issue was under consideration of the government.
TDP members also entered the house holding banners.
He further said “I am assuring the MPs of Andhra Pradesh that the government is committed to whatever has been assured”.
Following the centre’s stand on according the special status to Andhra Pradesh, a daily infuriated Chandrababu held an emergency meeting with his MPs and instructed them to go all out against the center in the ongoing Parliament sessions.
“I have spoken to TDP leaders”. “Some members have concerns over particular issues. We and even BJD members can participate in the debate”, Bandyopadhyay said.
While members of YSR Congress trooped into the Well holding placards demanding special category for Andhra Pradesh following the creation of Telangana, those from TDP stood in the aisles and raised slogans.
Members from the Yuvajana, Shramika, Rythu Congress – another regional outfit in Andhra Pradesh – also supported the demand. “Never. That’s my specialty”, the Chief Minister remarked, when asked if he was satisfied with the Finance Minister’s assurance.

The overwhelming response to the bandh in which CPI, CPM other political parties, student organizations, trade unions, social and women organizations took part reflected the mood of the people and special status is our right for which we have to fight and we will fight it out without giving in to Chandrababu Naidu and his antics, he said.
