Not so hot debut for Jared Goff,Rams complete comeback in LA return

Only a dropped pass could stand out as a blemish on Dak Prescott’s debut with the Dallas Cowboys.

“I got eight!” he said, and he plans to hold on to them for decades to come.

Goff’s second pass – after being hit by Cowboys linebacker Derek Akunne – was a wobbly throw that was easily intercepted by Mark Nzeocha. He could have easily ended the night with a ideal completion percentage, as both of his incompletions were dropped passes. The fact Prescott attempted these types of throws in this game is impressive, but watching him put this one where only Williams could get it – textbook on a fade route (this one on a double move by Williams) – was beyond impressive. Meanwhile, third-string quarterback Sean Mannion threw three touchdown passes in the second half to help Los Angeles erase a 17-point deficit. Goff was sacked on the next play to end the second quarter. It was second-and-9 when he lofted the pass to McEvoy, who was waiting in the end zone for the ball.

Along with Goff, there was another rookie quarterback playing in this game. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, lets take a look at this game and the preseason matchup with the Rams.

Prescott was a fourth-round pick, the 135th player taken in the draft.

Goff played for the bulk of the second quarter and finished 4/7 with 38 yards and one interception, meaning he improved and went 4/5 for 38 yards following that original shaky drive.

“Prescott”™s start was delayed by receiver Lucky Whitehead”™s electrifying 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game.

“I had to remind them (in the locker room) that it was a preseason game, ” said coach Jeff Fisher.

“Ain’t no way I was going to sit”, Bryant said. Quick passes had the defense lost and corner Coty Sensabaugh was no match for star receiver Dez Bryant.

“It was discouraging at times when you’d hear things like some of the committees weren’t all in”, the younger Jones said.

In his National Football League preseason debut, Rams No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff experienced some growing pains, throwing an interception on 4-for-9 passing and 38 yards in brief second-quarter action.

The number one overall pick entered preseason as the number two quarterback on the depth chart. While Romo seems to have recovered from last season’s injuries and has had a great training camp by all accounts, most observers believe that the decision is ultimately going to be left in his hands.
