Notre Dame vs. Clemson Preview & Prediction

Coach Theresa Romagnolo’s squad had the look of a champion Thursday, handing the top-ranked Cavaliers a 2-1 loss in double overtime.

How is this going to break out for Notre Dame? Starting with Clemson on October 3, the Irish not only have a chance to continue to show that they are a legitimate College Football Playoff contender; C.J. Prosise will have a showcase of games to prove to the country that he not only only has an origin story as interesting as Wolverine’s, but is as effective running the football as the comic hero is at healing himself.

Notre Dame is about to embark on a tough stretch of games in the next few weeks.

Florida State got on the board with a goal from Elin Jensen at 34:35. “I had a good friend named Keith YoungI did grow up with and he was the biggest Notre Dame fan you’ve ever met in your life, so I learned a lot about him and I learned to not like Notre Dame…Four Horsemen, Knute Rockne, and “Win one for the gipper” and all that stuff is what I grew up on”.

“Our defense is awesome…” If Clemson can contain the run, they are in a good place, but if Irish gain a foothold here, it will be hard to consistently stop them Saturday night. A defensive performance like we saw against Georgia Tech would provide the program with much needed optimism to face the triple option in the future. We can take those teams. “That’s our mentality. If we play to our standard, we’ll be fine”.

“I loved the weekend”, Romagnolo said.

As you might expect there are still going to be growing pains for Prosise to go through as he gets settled into the running back position. We try to temper the emotion and really work toward the enthusiasm.

Against Florida State, Notre Dame had early opportunities but couldn’t cash in.

“We’re hoping Bourret can trump the Pope”, Swinney said.

Edwards also returns kickoffs, and has taken five of them for scores, including two this year.

Here’s a matchup I’m excited to see: Will Fuller against Mackenzie Alexander.

Notre Dame was short-handed against the Seminoles.

The Irish tied the game on Michael Shipp’s flukey goal in the 74th minute.

Romagnolo remains convinced the Irish could have beaten the Seminoles.

Kelly has said he doesn’t believe there’s anything that can be done about the rash of injuries, pointing out that the injuries have occurred in a variety of ways on grass and artificial surfaces. “That’s what gets under everybody’s skin”. “We haven’t hit our ceiling yet”, said Prosise, who has 600 rushing yards this season. The Tigers, Kearse said, are ready to shut down the Irish. The big thing for us today was, twice, coming back from a goal down. We need to bring that up. It looked as if they were soaring for a bit, and I think we clipped their wings just in time.

In other words, this team has depth. That’s very valuable for the tournament. “I think that’s a fair question as it relates to the kind of players (the fill-ins) are and their skill set”. He made sure “Compliment Boulevard” wasn’t a one-way street when citing Notre Dame as the winningest program in the history of college football – the Irish rank second behind Michigan with 886 victories but first in winning percentage (.732) – and saying his team would have to be at its best to be victorious.

“It was a great result”, Romagnolo said of the win at Virginia.

When we spoke this summer, you talked about this being one of the biggest games on the schedule this year.

Notre Dame will face its most taxing test of the season when the sixth-ranked Irish visit #12 Clemson Saturday night
