The carnival – celebrating its 50th anniversary – has featured 60 bands and 38 sound systems.
It is celebrated over Sunday and Monday, which is celebrated as a “Summer Bank Holiday” in the United Kingdom, and is believed to attract around 1 million people as West Indies origin Britons come together for the celebrations.
Scotland Yard said 156 arrests were made on Sunday, while as of 7pm on Monday there had been 160 arrests.
The Metropolitan Police reported Tuesday that the arrests were the highest number in more than a decade and attributed the increase to tighter laws on psychoactive drugs, including nitrous oxide.
He was taken to a central London hospital and his condition is no longer critical, officers said.
A million revellers descended on the streets of London to watch the carnival on Sunday – what is known as the carnival’s “Children’s Day”.
Police added, that there were four incidents where people were stabbed, including two 15-year old boys, a 20-year old man and a 16-year old boy.
This year’s arrest count is nothing compared to that of 2015, when over 400 people ended up in custody.
They estimate that the canister can fill 2,250 small canisters and has a street value of £150,000.
“While the clean-up following Notting Hill Carnival represents a sizeable challenge, it’s one we relish because it’s a real team effort”, Vincent Masseri, senior contract manager for Veolia, said in a statement.
Jasmin Castrioty, 25, who had gone along for the first time, said: “The rhythm is absolutely stunning”.
Previous year we had an officer stabbed.
Teacher Jan Harvey, who is originally from Jamaica, said: “Everybody is enjoying themselves, there is no trouble and there is a good atmosphere”.

Conall De Hoog, 18, was impressed by what he described as calm scenes during his first carnival.
