Now readingJohnny Depp doesn’t ever want to win an Oscar

With his gangster role as James “Whitey” Bulger in “Black Mass”, Johnny Depp easily made it to anyone’s list of frontrunners in the Oscar race; but in an interview with BBC, the actor said that he has no interest in winning.

“Any recognition for the people who worked hard on it is great or if the attention gets the film a wider audience then lovely”, he said.

Johnny Depp is satisfied with his Oscar nominations and does not want to win an Oscar ever. “A nomination is plenty”.

IGN reported that the musician didn’t like the idea of being in a competition with anyone.

One of his main reason on why he doesn’t want to win is he doesn’t want to make an acceptance speech.

His reasoning for not wanting the award he’s rumoured to be in the running for: “I don’t want to have to talk”.

The nominations in question were for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003, Finding Neverland in 2004 and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 2008.

Now there is a few stuff that really works; a Hans Zimmer-style score (from the German’s sometimes partner Junkie XL) adds a real sense of epicness to the film and 70s-through-90s Boston is recreated with little fuss – none of the CGI sweeping shots to show this is a different time you’d expect. “I just stick to my guns and do what I want to do”.

“What did I come back from?” Although it won’t last long – in the next two years he’s reprising both the Mad Hatter and Captain Jack Sparrow. “It does come about every now and again”. Black Mass was Depp’s comeback, a return to form after a decade of silly voiced variations on the same camp caricature.
