Uber has announced that these features will first roll out in Mumbai, followed by other cities.
“Our partnership with Uber is directly in line with our commitment to offer innovative and relevant services to our customers”.
Taxi-hailing service Uber said on Friday that it has partnered with Bharti Airtel Ltd for mobile wallet and Internet services for riders and drivers in India. “We are excited that Uber has chosen Airtel to fulfill its telecom needs, and look forward to supporting the company’s rapid growth across India”, said Srini Gopalan, Director – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel. This new development comes about a month after the company resumed credit card payments and provides an ease to riders to book their cab using an Airtel Money account.
Apart from free Airtel 4G-powered Wi-Fi access, Uber has started accepting transactions through Airtel Money. This is a limited period offer, said Bharti Airtel in a statement.
This partnership of Airtel and Uber will help the riders to have a hassle free payment and this will make uber the first company to launch Airtel Money.
Besides, Airtel will also become Uber’s official telecom partner across India by offering mobile, data and device plans to Uber driver-partners.
