Now you can use Skype on your Android Wear smartwatch

MICROSOFT HAS RELEASED a new version of its Skype app for Android containing an unexpected surprise.

This new update adds full support for your smartwatch, letting you receive notifications of messages and calls on your watch and reply with voice dictation, preset messages, or by drawing emojis. Well, Mojis are finally live in version 6.4 of Skype, and they’re being accompanied with a more functional feature for Android Wear users. To reply with a Skype Moji, users can just draw a simple picture on the watch’s screen with their finger, and Skype will recognize which emoji it corresponds to.

In the case you want to take a call, you can accept the call from the watch but then use Skype on your Android smartphone along with your microphone, headphones, or wireless Bluetooth speaker or headset in order to continue the conversation.

Android Wear devices including the Moto 360, Huawei Watch, LG Watch Urbane, and ASUS ZenWatch are specifically listed as examples, meaning Microsoft probably feels these are the ones now gaining the most traction in the market. During a call, Skype on the wrist will show the option to either hang-up or mute the conversation.
