NRA responds to Philando Castile shooting after backlash

Sterling was killed Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after he scuffled with two white police officers outside a convenience store. She said people can look into her eyes, at that point 48 hours without sleep, and know that she’s not going away until justice is served. And he added the death of Philando Castile should be a wakeup call for America. Police confirm he died Wednesday night at the hospital.

Castile’s uncle told KARE 11 News he was an “upstanding young man”.

The shootings in Louisiana, Minnesota and Texas are all in the initial investigation stages.

Clarence Castile says Philando Castile had worked in St. Paul’s J.J. Hill school cafeteria for 12 to 15 years.

Both officers involved – four-year member of the department Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II, who was on the force for three years – were placed on administrative leave and had prior “use of force” complaints.

Philando Castile’s girlfriend, who streamed the immediate aftermath of the shooting live on Facebook, has said he was shot several times after telling the officer he had a gun and a permit to carry it.

Reynolds began livestreaming on Facebook from the vehicle shortly after Castile, who is bloodied and moaning before slumping in the driver’s seat, had been shot.

Benjamin Burroughs, a media professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, tells USA Today “it’s becoming a tool for citizens to bypass traditional media and connect in real time with viewers who feel as if they are present”.

Reynolds said on the video that her boyfriend had a conceal-carry license that allowed him to legally carry a firearm and was reaching for his identification in his back pocket when the officer started to shoot.

The “Freedom” singer – who has four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy with husband Jay Z – joins the likes of Drake, Kanye West, Zendaya and Justin TImberlake in speaking out about the incidents.

“Expletive!” “Expletive!” On the video, we hear the officer repeating the F-word as he realizes what has happened. Surely they will be demanding action, petitioning congressmen, demanding the Department of Justice to step forward and make sure that every American has a right to arm themselves without fear of being gunned down by the police!

Officer: “One adult female taken into custody”. In the video, she asks why she’s being arrested and an officer responds that she’s just being detained “until we can sort this all out”. “Please, Jesus, don’t tell me that he’s gone”, she said. “Please Jesus, no. Please no!” The platform gives users a “window into the best moments” and also lets them “bear witness to the worst”.

Tracy Castile says while the video of his nephew’s death is horrific, he is glad it came out. They say detectives are in the processing of analyzing the information contained in the journal. He said having an officer-involved shooting within his department is rare. She says she doesn’t want anyone else to know that feeling. “It’s not something that occurs here”.

The department referred our questions to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. As midnight passed and the crowd waned, the scene grew more tense at times, with face-offs between the remaining protesters and officers in riot gear. “We will not move”, as officers attempted to clear the area.

Friday morning, Castile’s mother bore into the television camera.

The Democratic governor also said he stands by his statements Thursday that police likely wouldn’t have opened fire had Castile been white.

Black Lives Matter organizers are planning a 7 p.m. PT (4 p.m. ET) event at Los Angeles’ Underground Museum “in honor of #AltonSterling, #WakieshaWilson, #KeithBursey, and #RedelJones”.
