A 21-year-old woman from Kerala received the “triple talaq” message from her husband on WhatsApp just after four weeks of their marriage.

After travelling to Dubai, the 27 year-old sent his wife, a dentistry student, a “triple talaq” via the popular messaging app.
The woman’s widowed mother had given her Rs 10 lakh as dowry and 79 sovereigns of gold.
The commission has now ruled that the woman’s husband, a 27-year-old originally from Vaikom in Kottayam, India, must be found, the Times of India reports.
When we asked Kamal Faruqui, the self-proclaimed media face of the Muslim community, chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission and member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), his response seemed to suggest there was little wrong in pursuing such a means for talaq.
A notice has been sent to her in-laws as well and they will be presented by the police in the next hearing.
“The commission should provide protection and legal aid to the girl and her mother”, said B Sugathakumari, an activist-poet and former chairperson of the state women’s commission.
Upon questioning the validity of the “WhatsApp talaq”, the commission ordered non-resident Keralites’ department, to inquire about the guy. “I don’t think a normal youth can act in this manner”.
However, another member of the same organisation questioned the validity of the WhatsApp talaq, saying that it could not be considered as a legal document. On the other hand, a few other perspective says talaq will have to be accomplished face-to-face or else related paperwork will have to be signed through witnesses. He said that the divorce could be granted after discussions within the family if the husband stuck to his decision. She said strict action must be taken against the man. The talaq is valid said a member of the Samastha Kerala Jam-Iyyathul Ulama, on Tuesday.

“There are certain conditions that govern a formal talaq that have clearly not been followed here”.
