The strain of Shiga-toxin-producing E. coli can be life-threatening, but no deaths have been reported.

Wilson said that all five people hospitalized in connection with consuming Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad have now been release, have recovered and are doing well.

The CDC and state health officials are investigating. These infections come after a similar episode of E.Coli illnesses that came from Chipotle Mexican Grill chain of restaurants and infected over 45 people across the country. The company uses the same supplier for those vegetables in the chicken salad sold at all locations across the U.S.

Costco past year was linked to a salmonella outbreak caused by chicken products it sold in at least nine states.

Of the current 19 patients, two have suffered from kidney failure.

The CDC says that the number of ill persons will likely grow in the next few weeks, as they are diagnosed and the diagnoses are reported to government officials.

The outbreak, which began October 6, has hit Montana the hardest with six confirmed cases there, according to the CDC. Chipotle said it has conducted deep cleaning at the restaurants that have been linked to the incident, replaced ingredients in those restaurants and changed food-preparation procedures.

Meanwhile, CDC has directed people to throw away the chicken salad and rotisserie chicken salad which they bought before November 20 from Costco stores.

“I think we’re going to learn something important from both ultimately”, he said.

Symptoms associated with this strain of E.coli include diarrhea and abdominal cramps.
