Number of Russian athletes banned from Rio Olympics continues to rise
Harting’s comments come after Bach’s organization decided against a blanket ban on all Russian competitors in Rio despite the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reporting a wide-ranging system run from the very top of society created to cover up positive tests.

“With the athletics team already banned that’s a total of 103 Russian cheats who will not competing against our clean athletes in these Games”, Chiller said.
Four-time world breaststroke champion Yulia Efimova announced plans on Monday to appeal her ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
In fact, the only ban of an entire country from the Olympics that has received widespread moral support was the ban on apartheid South Africa from 1964 until 1992. It said it would establish a “pool of Russian eligible athletes”. There was no sanction given to Russian judokas.
Her inclusion is actually backed by the IAAF and many anti-doping officials, who have praised her whistleblowing efforts, but was nixed by an International Olympic Committee ethics commission.
“Yuliya asked to compete in Rio not to receive an extraordinary benefit but to simply restore her to the position she would have been in had she never exposed Russia’s systemic doping program”.
She was informed of the IOC’s decision in a letter by director general Christophe de Kepper, which prompted a strongly worded response from the couple.
“To hear women’s eight be in Rio is fantastic news, and to have a ratio of 50.42 per cent is fantastic”, Fox said from Rio.
“I think what the International Olympic Committee didn’t do is spend enough time to understand how big the problem is in Russia and how much covering up is happening in Russian sports”, he said.
The list of 11 Russian athletes approved by the IJF must now be submitted to an arbitrator from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
As a result, Russia’s modern pentathlon squad member Maksim Kustov and reserve Ilia Frolov will not be allowed to compete at this summer’s Olympics. At a basic level, Standryk says, Russian athletes have no knowledge of the actual case against them, nor any chance to present any evidence on behalf of themselves. “As a result of this work conclusions will be drawn about the composition (of the Russian team)”.
On Tuesday, the federation said that 17 entered rowers and two of the coxes did not meet conditions to take part but six Russian rowers were cleared for Rio.
Other sports governing bodies with high-profile Russian links include the International Fencing Federation, whose president is Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, and United World Wrestling, whose leader has family ties to a construction firm that has won state contracts in Russia. FINA has set up an ad-hoc commission to look into the eligibility of Russian athletes and will retest all Russian samples from the 2015 worlds in Kazan, Russia.
CYCLING – Awaiting decision on 18 Russian cyclists.
– TAEKWONDO: There is yet to be a statement from the ruling body ITF on the three qualified Russian athletes.
Six Russian rowers are still eligible to field a men’s four.
And leave it to a Russian athlete to remind the world that the Olympics just wouldn’t be the same without them.

I would like to have seen the decision made by the International Olympic Committee immediately following the release of the McLaren Report last week.
