Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070: Specs, price and release date

Also of note, there is also a 4 GB gap that exists between the two graphics cards in terms of memory, with the GTX 1080 offering 8GB to the 12GB of the GTX 1080 Ti.

Just now, NVIDIA has announced the availability of a new GeForce Graphics package developed specifically for its latest GTX 1080 GPU model, namely version 368.25, which fixes Tom Clancy’s The Division stuttering, and more. Specs and hardware details of the card have already been out for quite some days now, and we have also seen the GTX 1070 images that look exciting. However, the now cheaper GTX 1070 beats the card without breaking a sweat and with less power consumption. The GM200 based cards consumed over 120W more power on the same system configuration but the GeForce GTX 1070 is really a class apart.

Nvidia introduced something a bit different this year with the launch of the GTX 1080- “Founders Edition” cards, which use reference coolers and start at £619.99 here in the UK. The GTX 1070 Founder’s Edition is blocked at 112% TDP now for reasons unknown, and a limit has been placed on overclocking, keeping the card at a maximum of 1980-2050 MHz.

In order for NVIDIA to keep its sales momentum up, it would likely be in the company’s best interests to get Volta out in early 2018 (if not late 2017); too long of a gap between flagship graphics architecture launches could lead to a slowdown in buying. The 8-Pin solution on the reference cards might be fine for most users, but while overclocking, it limits power to the GPU.

Where Nvidia’s founder edition 1080 only has one HDMI out, the Strix includes two native HDMI 2.0 outputs along with a DVI-D output and two Display Ports. The 3DMark test showed that it may not be as fast as the premium model but is generally faster than the GTX TITAN X. The graphics card has been compared to several other cards in various titles at 1080P, 1440P and 2160P resolutions. We know this because the starting price for third-party GTX 1080s is £529, £90 less than the Founders Edition.
