The graphics card company also warns that users should stop using their tablets immediately because of the battery issues, which cause the device to overheat and potentially burst into flames. Furthermore the company is asking that current owners do not use the tablets any more than is necessary to back them up and participate in the recall due to the aforementioned risk of fire. Microsoft just recently released Windows 10 for users all around and now its the Nvidia Shield’s turn today. Nvidia has determined that the battery in these tablets can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

The Shield is an Android-powered tablet able to stream games from your PC to its portable, five-inch, 1280×720 screen.

To check to see if your gaming tablet is actually a potential flaming ball of death, this website will give you the proper instructions to confirm and ship the product back for recall. If your battery is listed as Y01, you’ll need to send your SHIELD in for a replacement. Others, ranging from Samsung to Dell to Sony, have all dealt with similar problems with the batteries built into their own devices. While there have been no reports of injuries or damage submitted to Health Canada, NVIDIA received one from a Canadian consumer and four in the United States.

It continues: “Nvidia is asking customers to submit a claim for a replacement device”.

After that, select Settings > About Tablet > Status. You are looking for batter type Y01 or B01.
