Today’s announcement comes with news that Need for Speed No Limits and Real Boxing 2 will join the collection of Shield tablet K1 titles, which already includes Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and Vainglory. And now it’s cheaper than it was before. What’s going on here, you might ask?

Well, due to popular demand NVIDIA has made a decision to relaunch the SHIELD Tablet for 2015. NVIDIA has promised owners of the original SHIELD Tablet will be treated to Marshmallow as well, but no timeline is available yet.

There’s also no cord in the box. That might be because the company recalled a few of its tablets in July to address a battery fire risk. Unlike the original Shield Tablet, there is no 4G LTE variant of the Shield Tablet K1.

It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expandable up to 128GB via a MicroSD card slot.

No doubt a powerful gaming tablet capable of PC level visuals, not a whole lot of people were willing to dish out a large sum of money for the device.

Powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, which features a 192-core NVIDIA Kepler architecture GPU, SHIELD tablet K1 features a full HD 1080p, 8-inch display for stunning video, dual front-facing speakers for superb sound, and an optional tablet cover that doubles as a kickstand. The original Shield Tablet had the distinction of being the only entry that was built exclusively for mobile games.

For those who want to play more advanced games, Nvidia has a cloud stream service called GeForce NOW. There is no AC adapter, no cables, no SHIELD Controller, no nothing.
